Once again, we are in camp and all is well. It was a very long day, 376 miles total. Our rear ends are a bit sore to say the least. It makes you wonder how that one guy that was written up in the HOG magazine could do 30,000 miles in 31 days?
There really isn’t much to talk about. It was more of the same today as yesterday, lots of rolling hills and flat lands. I did get a couple of photos of some rock formations and one looking out toward Bismarck, ND. We got some ABC points, but for the most part, it was just a long, hot day. Well, except for the rain. Did I mention it rained? Well it did and we could see it coming so we stopped and put on our gear and then rode for about an hour or so with the rain gear on. Finally, I was too warm in the gear and it looked like we had missed the rain, so we pulled over on a street called Tatonka (Dances With Wolves) and took off our rain gear. No sooner did we start done the road it started to rain! We just road through it as it looked like it wouldn’t last long, which it didn’t.
Oh, and did I mention the wind? Yeah, we had wind again. And those darn semis. The wind makes it impossible to relax. You are constantly fighting the winds desire to push you over one way, then it changes it mind and tries the other way.
But here we are in camp having gotten something to eat at a local eatery and showered. Now we are enjoying some cold adult beverage and contemplating tomorrow. We had hoped to make Waterloo tomorrow but it is not likely as we would have to go 425 miles, which is 50 more than we did today. We will see.
Good night, sleep well and God bless.
(Note: Actually we are sitting in a IHOP on Thursday at 7:49 in Watertown, SD having breakfast. We didn’t have a internet connection last night)
